Simon

As part of our exciting Music Competition for 2010, musicians from across Ireland are invited to write and perform an original song (about one of the three themes mentioned below) and send it to Development Perspectives before the 12th of May 2010.  Six songs will then be short listed and the writers/musicians will be invited to play live in Boyles of Slane in late May/early June 2010. A winner from both heats will be chosen and both the winning songs will perform either live or recorded on the Late Lunch (LM-FM) during the week of the 8th-11th of June 2010.  The outright winner will be decided by text by the listeners of the Late Lunch.  Recording time will be presented to the Overall Winner and the Runner up of the competition.

The entries need to focus on and build their song around one of the following themes

1. We Do Care Campaign (www.wedocare.ie)

2. 1 in 6 – Face up to Hunger – Trocaires Lenten Campaign (www.trocaire.ie)

3. Greed

The short listing of songs and the winner of both heats will be decided upon by three judges (a representative from DP, Boyles and a Musician).

Tag Rugby

Development Perspectives, Darver Community Group and the Louth GAA recently completed an innovative Development Through Sport Programme.  Participants came together to explore and examine the use of sport as a way of dealing with issues such as inequality, poverty and exclusion.  Have a look at the link below to get a flavour of one sport (Goggle Football), which formed part of the programme.
