WEEE Pledge – School Battery Recycling Initiative

by WEEE Pledge on the 07/08/2018

WEEE Pledge is a FREE battery recycling programme designed for schools.

By engaging in fun learning activities and taking charge of battery recycling, students and their families learn about the importance of being responsible for the environment and how to make a difference in each community. The WEEE Pledge schools programme yielded an important 28 tonnes (equivalent of 1.5 million AA batteries) of waste batteries in 2017. Established in 2013, and with a network now of more than 2,500 schools, WEEE Pledge has built a long-term sustainable education and awareness programme.
By recycling waste batteries, schools are helping to protect our environment by diverting hazardous waste from landfill, and by doing so raise funds for our chosen charity partner LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.
WEEE challenge you to be Guardians of Our Planet! Take the pledge today (here) to recycle your waste batteries and help make #SmallThingsMatter.
