We’ve reached Goal #11 in the #SDGchallenge this month with a focus on Sustainable Cities and Communities. We now have 330 people signed up from 31 different countries and have hosted workshops all over the country.
2017 started with a focus on Reduced Inequalities.
The #SDGchallenge is well and truly underway. With over 330 people signed up from 31 different countries there’s a major push on meeting the Global Goals by 2030. To date we have focused on 10 of these crucial goals. November saw us concentrate on Goal #7 Clean and Affordable Energy. As part of this month a workshop was held in the Dundalk Institute of Technology, a suitable venue as it hosts the Centre for Renewable Energy. We had inputs from #SDGchallenge coordinator Stephanie Kirwan, Development Perspectives director Bobby McCormack and PhD candidate Janet McKennedy who shared research from her thesis which focuses on harnessing energy from seaweed. The challenge for this month was an Energy Audit which suggested participants conduct a personal assessment where the energy in their home comes from, whether it is renewable and how they could make their home more energy efficient. Next month will focus SDG #8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth. To sign up for the #SDGchallenge please visit www.developmentperspectives.ie/sdgchallenge
